Competitive Athletics

Principled Achievers On and Off the Court

NCPA students are principled achievers both in the classroom and on the court through our competitive athletics program. Students try out for a range of individual and team sports, which hold practice in the mornings and afternoons throughout the school week.

We participate in the regional Pearl River Conference and the national ACAMIS athletics divisions. Additionally, many teams attend invitationals and independently-organized competitions. While we often win championships and top 3 finishes, we also pride ourselves in coming home with Sportsmanship Awards for outstanding athletic and interpersonal conduct.

A Winning Program

Here's a list of our finishes. We list our sportsmanship awards first, because we believe athletic excellence and social excellence are built on a foundation of playing nice with others.

About Our Mascot

Pulao
In Chinese mythology, the pulao is a one of the nine sons of the dragon. Tales say he likes to roar, and dynasties since the Tang have used the pulao as an adornment on top of bells and as the hook from which bells are hung.

You can see the pulao's face in NCPA's iconography, but our competitive sports teams fly the banner with the full body of the pulao dragon ready to roar:

"N-C-P-A! N-C-P-A all the way!"
