A Letter from the Principal: Growth, Support, and Partnership
Dear GUIS-NCPA Families,
Welcome to the 2026–27 school year!Whether you are returning to GUIS-NCPA or joining us for the first time, I am very happy to welcome you to our school community.
As we begin the year, one of our most important commitments is to ensure that every student is known, supported, and appropriately challenged. This year, we are expanding our advisory program so that every student in Grades 9–12 will have an advisor. Advisors will help students develop the skills they will need for college and beyond, while also ensuring that every student has a trusted adult at school who knows them well and can support their growth.
In the classroom, we are also placing greater emphasis on helping students take an active role in their own learning. Students should increasingly understand what they are learning, what successful work looks like, how they are progressing, and what they can do next to improve. We want students to use feedback, revise their work, reflect on their progress, and become more confident and independent learners.
Learning at GUIS-NCPA also extends well beyond the classroom. We currently have 74 co-curricular activities planned for the first trimester, giving students many opportunities to explore interests, build relationships, develop new skills, and contribute to the school community.
Families play an important role in all of this. One of the most helpful things you can do is remain interested in your child’s learning. Ask them what they are learning, what they are finding challenging, what they are proud of, and what they are working to improve. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teachers. Strong communication between students, families, and the school helps us provide the best possible support.
Thank you for your trust and partnership. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to working together to help every student grow, succeed, and find their own pathway forward.
Dr. Jay Langkamp
